Mr. Miller is the Chief Technology Officer for The Digital Decision, one of America’s premier public safety/national security communications consulting firms. The Digital Decision focuses on True Nationwide Interoperable Communications for our nation’s First Responders. Mr. Miller is a National Security/Public Safety/Law Enforcement wireless communications subject matter expert.
Steven spent 17 years as a distinguished member of Verizon’s Headquarters National Security and Public Safety Team, with 10 years dedicated to the FBI. Steven most recently served as Verizon’s Director of National Security dedicated to supporting State and Local Public Safety, as well as national security agencies. Steven was instrumental in influencing Verizon’s next generation public safety offerings, including the launch of Verizon’s Public Safety Private Core, priority/preemption services and Verizon’s public safety Mobile Application Ecosystem.
Steven began his public safety career in 1974 as a deputy sheriff and joined the Illinois State Police in 1976. In 2002, Steven retired from the Illinois State Police as the Chief Technology Officer after serving 30 years in law enforcement. In his role at ISP, Steven served as the senior administrator of one of the nation’s largest statewide criminal justice information systems: Illinois Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS), Illinois wireless mobile data network (IWIN), statewide Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network managing 21 manned communication centers.
Steven graduated valedictorian from the University of Illinois with highest honors where he holds a degree in criminal justice administration and is also a graduate and valedictorian of the Illinois State Police Command College. Steven recently retired from Verizon in March 2019 and is now serving in his current role as CTO for The Digital Decision.
