IWCE 2009 Feedback from Attendees and Exhibitors Overwhelmingly Positive
Event Drew Quality Attendees in a Challenging Economy
Stamford, CT (March 25, 2009) IWCE 2009 in Las Vegas (March 16-18) attracted quality attendees and more exhibitors than IWCE 2008, despite a challenging economy. Overwhelming feedback from both exhibitors and attendees was that IWCE 2009 was a very productive and worthwhile show.
Now into its 32nd year, IWCE 2009 continues to be a premier destination for the wireless communications industry, featuring a week of cutting-edge conference sessions from the College of Technology, Keynote Addresses from industry thought leaders, General Sessions open to all attendees, and 366 exhibitors covering almost 90,000 square foot of exhibit space, an increase over the last three years.
IWCE is the one show that brings the whole integrated communications community under one roof. Attendees included communications equipment dealers, IT professionals, wireless service providers, public safety professionals, and enterprise users from industries such as utilities, transportation, construction, education and security, etc. As in previous years, IWCE continues in its mission to providing an industry forum and the critical information needed by professionals responsible for the dependability, reliability and interoperability of their organization’s communications system.
The show floor featured long-time exhibitors as well as new exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies. New in 2009 was the Surveillance Pavilion featuring 10 exhibitors. Also new this year was the TETRA Pavilion.
Many exhibitors said IWCE 2009 exceeded their expectations in attracting high caliber attendees year after year. Adriana Albornoz of Aeroflex Test Solutions: “For a down economy we were very surprised at the attendee traffic. Our booth collected over 100 leads in the first hours after the show opened.”
IWCE’s conference program’s cutting-edge content for wireless communications professionals has maintained its traditional standard of high quality. Andy Smith of IPWireless: “IWCE is a great venue for gaining critical competitive intelligence, and advancing discussions with key constituencies. “ New partnerships with Global Wireless Education Consortium (GWEC), International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), Project Management Institute (PMI), the TETRA Association and IEEE, to name a few, offered industry professionals almost 90 content-rich sessions to choose from.
The Keynote address by Steve Zipperstein, Vice President – Legal & External Affairs for Verizon Wireless – presented his view on the issues of voice and – more importantly – data interoperability for public safety and critical infrastructure. General Sessions on Thursday and Friday continued to center on thought provoking issues.
Other special events included a lunch time address presented by Dan Gillison, National Director for Public Sector Sales, Programs, for Sprint. The dealer community was served by a Dealer Workshop – New Technologies for Dealers, two TETRA presentations, and IEEE’s Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies (WCET) Certification Program.
The IWCE Networking Reception was held on Wednesday and turned out to be a great evening of food, fun and entertainment. A special thank you to the 2009 Premier Partners of IWCE who were sponsors of the Networking Reception: EADS, HYT, ICOM, Kenwood, Midland, Motorola, RELM, Tait, Tyco Electronics and Vertex Standard.
